Ingredients
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 3 eggs
Method
- First 3 ingredients: Mix margarine and flour together. Add water and stir. Pat into two even strips onto ungreased cookie sheet.
- Second group of ingredients:
- Boil water and 1/2 cup margarine; remove from heat, add almond extract and flour. Beat in one egg at a time until blended. Spread evenly over crusts. Bake for 1 hour at about 350 degrees, or until top layer is golden brown.
- Glaze: 2 T margarine, 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 1/2 tsp almond extract, 2 T hot water. Beat together, spread over pastry, top with a little granulated sugar and sliced almonds.
