Ingredients
- 4 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. corn syrup
- 5 drops red food coloring
- 3/4 tsp. oil of cinnamon (may be purchased at drug store)
Method
- Combine sugar, water and syrup in a large Dutch oven.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
- Stir in food coloring.
- Continue to cook, without stirring, until mixture reaches hard crack stage or 300° on candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and stir in oil of cinnamon.
- Working rapidly, spread mixture onto oiled 15 x 10 x 1-inch jelly roll pan.
- Let cool. Break into pieces.
- Yields 4 dozen pieces.
