- 3 slices Day Or Two Old French Bread
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
Method
- Slice up the bread into 1/4 inch chunks.
- Grab a big nonstick skillet that can handle 500-degree heat and heat some butter in there on medium high heat.
- When it starts getting that nutty smell, roll the pan around to make sure it evenly spreads and then dump the bread in.
- Shake the pan.
- Wait a minute.
- Shake the pan again.
- Fiddle with your apron strings.
- Shake the pan.
- Say hello to the doggy who has discovered that you have food and maybe she can have some by licking your toes.
- Notice that the underside of the croutons are on their way to nice and golden (it's been maybe 3 minutes).
- Drizzle a little bit of olive oil around on top of the half baked croutons.
- Grab your spatula and flip the croutons.
- Repeat shaking steps from above.
- About halfway through your shaking, you remember that you wanted to turn the broiler on in your oven.
- Do that.
- Shake some more (total 3 minutes on this side) and then stick them in the oven for about a minute.
- Take them out. Put them on caesar salad. Personally, I like them warm on the salad.
