Ingredients

  • 10 flour tortillas (room temperature)
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, chopped
  • 1/2 c. sugar (more if desired)
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • butter (for spreading on tortillas)
  • Crisco (for deep frying)
  • powdered sugar (for topping)

Method

  • Mix apples, cinnamon, sugar and nutmeg.
  • Spread each tortilla with butter.
  • Put heaping tablespoonful of apple mixture onto tortilla, leaving enough room for folding.
  • Fold ends, then roll. Place one fold in hot grease; deep fry until lightly browned. Drain on paper towels.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cooled.
