Ingredients
- 1 (7 oz.) pkg. elbow macaroni (3 c.)
- 3/4 c. butter
- 12 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 c. milk
- 20 oz. grated sharp Cheddar cheese (yellow or white)
Method
- Cook macaroni for 10 minutes on High.
- Add 3/4 cup butter; microwave 1 to 2 minutes on High.
- Blend in the flour and salt. Add the milk; stir until smooth.
- Microwave 5 1/2 to 6 minutes on High, stirring with table fork every minute until thickened.
- Add the grated cheese; stir until completely melted.
- Stir sauce into drained macaroni; mix well.
- Microwave 16 minutes on Medium, stirring every 3 minutes.
- If desired, sprinkle top with paprika or buttered bread crumbs or cubes before serving.
