Ingredients

  • 1 (3 lb.) frying chicken, boiled
  • 1/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • pinch of pepper
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 c. rich milk
  • 3 c. well-seasoned chicken broth
  • 1 pkg. (can) oven-ready biscuits

Method

  • Cook chicken in salt water until done.
  • Let cool.
  • Pick chicken from bones.
  • Make a rich gravy with shortening, flour, salt (if needed), pepper, cream of mushroom soup, milk and broth. Cook until boiling, stirring often.
  • When it boils, stir in chicken pieces; bring to a boil.
  • Pour chicken mixture in an 11 x 14-inch baking dish.
  • Place in 350° to 400° oven until a scum forms on the top.
  • Place biscuits on top and bake until biscuits are done.
  • Serve with salad and a vegetable.
