Ingredients
- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. buttermilk
Method
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Cut in shortening.
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Add to dry ingredients with buttermilk.
- Knead until smooth.
- Roll out and cut with biscuit cutter.
- Dip each in melted butter and fold over.
- Place on baking sheet and let rise until double in size. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
