Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 c. canned or stewed tomatoes or tomato paste
  • whole kernel corn
  • 1/3 c. chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. chili sauce
  • 1 (15 oz.) can red kidney beans, drained or pinto beans
  • cornbread batter

Method

  • Combine meat, onion, sugar and chili sauce and saute in butter until meat changes color.
  • Add tomatoes and beans and simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Place meat mixture in a greased 1 1/2-quart casserole.
  • Spread cornbread batter on top of meat mixture.
  • Bake at 425° for 25 minutes or until brown.
