Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 6 Tbsp. corn meal
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 small cans milk (1 1/3 c.)
  • 2 small cans water (1 1/3 c.)
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 to 6 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 (9-inch) cooked pie crusts

Method

  • Mix dry ingredients together in a saucepan.
  • Add milk and water.
  • Mix well.
  • Add beaten egg yolks, butter and vanilla.
  • Cook over low heat until thick (like banana pudding).
  • Pour into cooked crusts; top with beaten egg whites.
  • Cook in 350° oven about 10 minutes or until brown.
  • Best if a little cool.
