Ingredients
- 2 c. self-rising meal
- 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/2 c. or less sugar
- 1 egg, well beaten
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 4 Tbsp. melted shortening or bacon drippings
Method
- Mix meal, flour, sugar, eggs and buttermilk thoroughly.
- Add melted shortening.
- Pour into loaf pan to within 1-inch of top. Bake for 1 hour at 350°.
