Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. yellow corn meal
  • 1/3 c. grated Parmesan and Romano cheese
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • vegetable oil
  • 8 to 10 wooden skewers
  • 1 lb. hot dogs or veggie dogs

Method

  • Combine dry ingredients.
  • Stir in milk, egg and 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
  • Insert wooden skewer in each hot dog.
  • Dip in batter, coating completely.
  • Deep fry at 325° until golden, about 2 minutes.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve hot.
