Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 c. sifted plain flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. butter (1 stick plus a little more)
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Method

  • Slice butter in thin slices in bowl.
  • Add brown sugar and cream well.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, and beat.
  • Add flour, salt and baking powder; beat.
  • Add flavoring and beat.
  • Stir in by hand the nuts and chocolate chips.
  • Grease large pan or 2 square cake pans.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool in pan for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Cut into bars.
  • Remove to wire rack or a storage container.
