Ingredients

  • 4 oz. butter
  • 2 oz. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 Tbsp. instant coffee

Method

  • Cream butter and shortening.
  • Add sugars, vanilla and egg yolk. Mix well.
  • Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and coffee.
  • Add to other ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • Mold 1 inch balls, place on sheet pan, flatten with bottom of cup or glass.
  • Bake at 375 until golden brown.
  • Yield:
  • 3 dozen.
