Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2/3 c. cooked potatoes, sieved while hot
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 7 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. warm water

Method

  • Cream shortening and sugar, add warm potatoes.
  • Mix well, add eggs and salt.
  • Beat well.
  • Dissolve yeast in water and add alternately with flour.
  • Knead until smooth.
  • Let rise until double in bulk.
  • Roll out on floured board about 3/4 inch thick.
  • Place in greased pan, let rise.
  • Cover with cream or undiluted canned milk, sugar and cinnamon.
  • Bake 20 minutes at 350°.
  • Remove from oven and dot with cream or a thin glaze of cream and powdered sugar.
