Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 1/2 c. Karo syrup
  • 1 tsp. red food coloring
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon oil

Method

  • Cook and stir first 3 ingredients until sugar is dissolved and don't stir anymore.
  • Continue to cook until it reaches 300° according to candy thermometer.
  • A word of caution before stirring in cinnamon oil.
  • Turn on vent-a-hood and stir at arms length to prevent vapors from getting on arms and face.
  • Add food coloring and cinnamon oil.
  • Stir in well according to directions given. Pour into a greased pan and let set.
  • Break into small pieces.
  • Put in a covered bowl of powdered sugar and shake to cover pieces with powdered sugar.
  • Store in a covered container.
