Ingredients

  • 1 beef chuck steak (1 1/2 to 2 lb.)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz.) peeled Italian tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 Tbsp. fresh oregano or 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Trim fat from steak.
  • Place in a shallow glass baking dish with plenty of space around meat.
  • In a bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients.
  • Spread over steak.
  • Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to one hour, until steak is tender.
  • Slice at an angle and serve with tomato sauce from pan.
  • This tastes great with roasted potatoes.
