Ingredients

  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 box German chocolate mix with pudding
  • 1 (14 oz.) bag caramels
  • 1 stick butter
  • small (5 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 (6 oz.) bag milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet

Method

  • Melt caramels with butter and milk until smooth. Make mix as directed on package. Pour 1/2 of cake batter in greased and lightly floured 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes. Remove and cool (cake will be a thick liquidy consistency) for 10 to 15 minutes. Pour caramel mixture on and spread, then sprinkle with chips and pecans. Pour rest of batter and smooth. Bake for another 30 to 45 minutes. Test with toothpick. Chips will not melt.
