Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1 stick butter
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Mix in bowl sugar and flour; put next 4 ingredients in a pan and let come to a boil, then pour over dry ingredients.
- Beat together buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla and add.
- Put in greased and floured sheet pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes at 400°.
- Start frosting when cake is about done and ice soon after taking from oven.
