Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4-5 tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 cocoa
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. canned milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 baked 9 in. deep dish pie crust

Method

  • Mix together sugar, cocoa, flour, milk, yolks of eggs and butter.
  • Cook over medium heat until thick.
  • Add vanilla and let cool.
  • Pour into baked pie crust and top with meringue that has been beaten until stiff peaks form.
  • Add 5 tbsp. sugar to meringue and 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar.
  • Brown at 350 degrees.
