Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. plain flour
  • 2 Tbsp. cocoa
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. cold milk
  • 1/2 stick margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 baked pastry shell
  • 1/3 c. sugar

Method

  • Mix together sugar, flour, cocoa and salt.
  • Stir together egg yolks, milk and butter.
  • Add to dry ingredients.
  • Cook over medium heat until thick.
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Pour into pie shell. Beat the egg whites until thick, add 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until smooth.
  • Place on top of pie filling and brown in 325° oven until golden brown.
