Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. Crisco
- 3 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sour milk or 1 c. milk with 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. boiling water
Method
- Cream together sugar, eggs and Crisco.
- Sift together flour, soda, cocoa and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour milk.
- Add vanilla.
- Add boiling water; stir only until well blended.
- Divide between 2 well-greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
- Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until done.
- Cool completely before frosting with Chocolate Frosting.
