Ingredients

  • 1 box devil's food cake mix
  • 1/4 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip
  • 1 c. sugar

Method

  • Bake cake in 2 thin layers in 9 x 13-inch pan by directions on box.
  • Let cool on rack and then cut cakes in half to have 4 layers.
  • Mix 1/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup flour and cook well.
  • Set aside and let the mixture get cold.
  • Mix butter, Crisco, sugar and vanilla.
  • Beat all together well, then stir in Cool Whip.
  • Put this mixture between cooled cake layers and freeze.
