Ingredients
- salt and water
- 3 qt. small cucumbers
- 1 qt. vinegar
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. mustard seed
- 1 Tbsp. celery seed
- 1/4 tsp. alum
- 1/4 tsp. turmeric
Method
- Wash cucumbers; cut into 1/4-inch slices.
- Soak overnight in a brine, to cover, made of 1 tablespoon salt and 1 quart water.
- Mix the remaining ingredients with the vinegar and bring to boiling point.
- Drain brine from cukes.
- Pack in jars with the boiling hot liquid and seal.
