Ingredients

  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. quick Quaker oatmeal
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (12 oz. size) bag chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz.) can condensed sweetened milk
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Cream margarine and sugar until fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well.
  • Combine oatmeal, flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Stir into creamed mixture.
  • Spread 2/3 of mixture into greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch jelly roll pan.
  • Combine chocolate chips, condensed milk and margarine in saucepan.
  • Cook over medium heat until melted and smooth.
  • Add nuts and vanilla.
  • Spread over oatmeal mixture in pan.
  • Spoon small drops of remaining oatmeal mixture on top.
  • Try to spread evenly a little.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Cool and cut into bars.
