Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 4 level Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. sweet milk
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla and eggs.
  • Sift flour, soda, baking powder and cocoa. Add alternately with milk.
  • Add nuts.
  • Drop with teaspoon on greased cookie sheet.
  • Spread slightly.
  • (These are a soft cake-like texture.) Bake at 350° for 12 minutes. I always frost them with powdered sugar frosting, plain or add cocoa for chocolate frosting.
  • Yields 2 dozen.
