Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter or oleo
- 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. dates, chopped
- 1 c. nuts, chopped
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
- In a large saucepan, over low heat, melt butter and chocolate.
- Remove from heat.
- Gradually stir in sugar until well blended.
- Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in flour, dates, nuts, vanilla and salt until smooth.
- Spread in pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until center is set (do not overbake). Cool in pan on wire rack.
- Cut into bars.
- Makes 32 (2 x 1 1/2-inch) bars.
