Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. cold milk
- 4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 4 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 baked (9-inch) pie shell
- 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 8 Tbsp. sugar
Method
- Add cocoa to 1 cup of sugar and mix well.
- Stir in 2 cups milk to make smooth mixture and heat in top of double boiler.
- Beat egg yolks.
- Add flour, blended with remaining 1/2 cup of milk.
- Add salt and stir into milk mixture.
- Cook until thick, stirring constantly.
- Add butter or margarine and vanilla.
- Cool and pour into baked pastry shell.
