Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 3/4 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up and drained
  • 1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 tsp. (or more) chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper

Method

  • In a large kettle, cook ground meat, onion, green pepper and garlic until meat is browned.
  • Drain.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Bring to boiling.
  • Reduce heat.
  • Cover and simmer about 20 minutes.
  • Makes 4 to 6 servings.
