Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. wheat flour
  • 3/4 c. margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder
  • 2 c. sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 c. (4 oz.) green chilies, chopped and drained
  • 2 Tbsp. onions, chopped

Method

  • Mix egg, flour, margarine, cornmeal and chili powder together. Press into ungreased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish.
  • Bake in a 350° oven for 20 minutes.
  • Mix remaining ingredients together; spread evenly over baked layer.
  • Return to oven for additional 20 minutes.
  • When cool, cut into 3 x 1-inch bars.
