Ingredients
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. Crisco
- 1 c. (4 oz.) sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp. soda
Method
- Combine flour and shortening in a medium bowl.
- Cut in shortening until mixture is coarse.
- Stir in cheese.
- Combine buttermilk, mustard and soda.
- Pour into flour mixture and stir until mixed.
- Turn onto floured board; knead 3 or 4 times.
- Roll out and cut into biscuits.
- Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes.

- 12 biscuits.
