Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 12 teaspoons baking powder
  • 34 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 34 cup raisins

Method

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
  • Cut in butter, until it forms coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in cheese.
  • Blend egg and milk.
  • Add to dry mixture, stirring only until moist.
  • Fold in raisins.
  • Spoon batter into greased muffins tins, filling 2/3 full.
  • Bake 25 minutes, or until brown, Serve hot.
