Ingredients

  • 36 Kraft caramels
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. pecan halves
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pastry shell

Method

  • Melt caramels with water and margarine in saucepan over low heat.
  • Stir frequently until sauce is smooth.
  • Combine sugar, eggs, salt and vanilla.
  • Gradually add caramel sauce; mix well. Stir in nuts; pour into pastry shell.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes. Pie filling will appear to be very soft, but becomes firm as it cools.
