Ingredients

  • 1 large pkg. Kraft caramels
  • 2/3 c. canned milk
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. oleo or butter flavored Crisco
  • 6 oz. chocolate bits
  • nuts (if desired)

Method

  • Combine caramels and 1/3 cup canned milk and melt.
  • Mix cake mix, 1/3 cup milk and butter.
  • Put half cake mix into cake pan and bake at 350° for 6 minutes.
  • Remove from oven; add chocolate chips and cover with melted caramel.
  • Add remaining cake mix and bake 15 to 18 minutes.
