Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 lb. diced bacon
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. catsup
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 tsp. vinegar
  • 1 (No. 2) can pork and beans
  • 1 can red kidney beans
  • 1 can green lima or butter beans

Method

  • Brown together in skillet hamburger and bacon.
  • Add onion when partially brown to cook until tender.
  • Drain grease.
  • Drain liquid from lima and kidney beans and reserve to add if needed.
  • Mix all ingredients together and place in crock-pot on low.
  • Heat for 2 to 3 hours, adding some of the reserved liquid if needed.
  • I vary the kinds of beans and also use regular mustard instead of dry sometimes.
  • If desired, you may increase the amount of hamburger or brown sugar.
  • It is a flexible recipe; you can use what you have on hand.
