Ingredients
- 1 c. shortening
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 6 eggs, separated
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
Method
- Cream the sugar and shortening until no sugar grains are left. Mix dry ingredients.
- Fold in beaten egg yolks.
- Add buttermilk and dry ingredients alternately.
- Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- Add flavorings.
- Bake in greased Bundt pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until done.
- Can be glazed.
- This cake is better the second day.
