Ingredients

  • 34 cup granulated sugar
  • 12 cup butter or 12 cup margarine, cut into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 (8 ounce) boxsemisweet baking chocolate squares, broken into pieces
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 14 teaspoon baking soda
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flaked coconut
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine, melted
  • 14 cup nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk

Method

  • FOR THE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350F,.
  • Grease 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • Heat, stirring constantly, sugar, butter and water in a large, heavy-duty saucepan, just to boiling.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add baking bars; stir until melted.
  • stir in eggs one at a time.
  • Add flour, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt; stir well.
  • Spread into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 16-20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky.
  • Cool in pan for 20 minutes.
  • FOR THE COCONUT FROSTING: Combine coconut, brown sugar, butter and evaporated milk in medium bowl.
  • Spread over cooled brownies.
  • Broil 4-inches from heat for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
