Ingredients
- 12 c. day old bread cubes
- 3 c. scalded milk
- 1 can peaches, cut up and drained
- 1 can pears, cut up and drained
- 1/4 c. melted butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Method
- Toss bread with milk.
- Add fruit and butter.
- Beat eggs and spices together.
- Mix into bread mixture.
- Pour into buttered 3 to 4-quart casserole dish.
- Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes at 350° until knife inserted in middle comes out clean.
- Serve warm or cold with vanilla pudding over top.
