Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 c. light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. toasted, chopped pecans

Method

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Grease an 8-inch square baking pan. Beat in a bowl at medium speed the butter and sugar for 2 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  • In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt; stir into butter mixture.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
  • Spread in pan.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely in pan on wire rack before cutting.
  • Makes 12 brownies.
