Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 sticks margarine, melted
  • 1 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. hot water
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans)

Method

  • Sift flour with salt and baking powder.
  • Combine the margarine, brown sugar, hot water and eggs.
  • Add flour gradually, beating in well.
  • Add vanilla and chocolate chips.
  • Add nuts. Pour into a greased 8 x 13-inch pan.
  • Bake in 350° oven for 30 minutes.
  • Let cool.
  • Cut into squares.
