Ingredients
- 8 large eggs
- 2 1/4 c. cake flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 c. Crisco
- 1/2 c. butter
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 2 1/4 tsp. vanilla
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Method
- Cream sugar, butter and Crisco together.
- Add eggs, one at a time.
- Mix all dry ingredients together and sift.
- Add flavorings. Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours.
- If you have a very hot oven at 325°, bake at 300° until done.
- Do not open door during the first hour.
