- 2 lb. cubed beef stew meat
- 1 large onion
- 4 medium potatoes
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 (10 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom or celery soup
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- buttered bread crumbs
Method
- Brown beef and onion in butter over medium heat until the meat is brown and the onion is tender.
- Season to taste.
- Reserve liquid from mushrooms; add 1/2 cup milk or enough to make 1 cup. Stir mushrooms and liquid into meat and simmer for 2 hours.
- Place meat in 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange potatoes over meat.
