Ingredients
- 1/4 c. olive oil
- 1/2 c. (1 medium) chopped onion
- 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 7 c. (2 to 2 1/2 cans) tomatoes, sieved
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp. sweet basil or oregano
- 3/4 c. (6 oz. can) tomato sauce
Method
- Heat olive oil in saucepot.
- Add onion and cook until lightly browned.
- Add and brown ground chuck.
- Add slowly, a mixture of tomatoes, salt, bay leaf and sweet basil or oregano.
- Cover saucepot and simmer over very low heat about 2 1/2 hours.
- Add tomato sauce.
