Ingredients

  • 1 c. water
  • 3/4 c. soy sauce
  • 2/3 c. dry sherry
  • 1/2 c. dark brown sugar
  • 3 to 4 lb. spareribs
  • 6 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. grated ginger
  • 2 tsp. 5 Spice powder
  • cayenne pepper

Method

  • Place ribs in large saucepan.
  • Cover and simmer 45 minutes. Combine other ingredients and simmer in another saucepan for 1/2 hour.
  • Drain ribs, cut in portions.
  • Pour marinade over ribs and let soak for 30 to 45 minutes.
  • Broil or grill until crisp and browned.
  • Brush frequently as you are browning ribs.
