Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. milk

Method

  • Mix and sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening until well mixed.
  • Add milk and stir until soft dough is formed.
  • Knead dough on lightly floured board and shape into smooth ball.
  • Roll into 1/2-inch thick lengths and cut with floured biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake in very hot oven at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes.
  • Yields 14 (2-inch) biscuits.
