Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. heavy cream
- 1/2 c. unsalted butter, melted
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 8 oz. French bread, sliced 1/2-inch thick
Method
- Preheat oven at 350°.
- Combine eggs, sugar, milk, cream, butter, vanilla and nutmeg; blend well.
- Pour mixture over bread slices, turning until saturated.
- Arrange into lightly greased 4-quart dish.
- Pour excess over bread.
- Bake, uncovered, 30 to 45 minutes.
- Serve with warm syrup or fruit preserves.
- Serves 10.
