Ingredients
- 6 x apples peeled, cored and quartered
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 3/4 c. water
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
Method
- Peel, core and quarter apples and arrange in a shallow baking dish.
- Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
- Bake at 350 F, uncovered for 30 min.
- While apples are baking prepare topping.
- Combine sugar, cornstarch and water.
- Cook over medium heat till thickened and clear; remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
- Pour this over the apples and bake an additional 10 to 15 min or possibly till the topping bubbles and the apples are completly cooked.
- Serve hot.
- On Thanksgiving, you can use this as a side dish instead of a dessert.
- It's also great with any pork dish.
