Ingredients

  • 6 x apples peeled, cored and quartered
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Method

  • Peel, core and quarter apples and arrange in a shallow baking dish.
  • Dot with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  • Bake at 350 F, uncovered for 30 min.
  • While apples are baking prepare topping.
  • Combine sugar, cornstarch and water.
  • Cook over medium heat till thickened and clear; remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
  • Pour this over the apples and bake an additional 10 to 15 min or possibly till the topping bubbles and the apples are completly cooked.
  • Serve hot.
  • On Thanksgiving, you can use this as a side dish instead of a dessert.
  • It's also great with any pork dish.
