Ingredients
- 2 c. sugar (white)
- 1/2 c. flour
- 2 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 4 egg yolks
- 4 egg whites
- 8 tsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Brown
- sugar
- and
- flour in heavy iron skillet over low heat until it browns, stirring all the time.
- Add the milk and stir until
- thick
- and all melted.
- Add butter and cool.
- Beat the egg yolks
- until
- they are light and add while stirring. Add vanilla. When cool, stack between three cooked pie crusts like
- cake filling.
- Beat
- egg
- whites
- until stiff. Add
- 8 teaspoons sugar,
- one at a time.
- Add vanilla.
- Put on top and brown.
- The crusts have no sides, just roll out 9 inches round and bake.
