Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. baking pwdr
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/3 c. margarine
  • 1 c. Quaker Oat Bran warm cereal, uncooked
  • 2/3 c. dry apples, finely minced
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/3 c. water
  • 2 x egg whites, beaten

Method

  • Heat oven to 400F.
  • Lightly spray a cookie sheet with vegetable veg.
  • oil spray or possibly oil lightly.
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking pwdr and cinnamon; cut in margarine till mix resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in oat bran, apples and raisins.
  • Add in combined water and egg whites, mixing just till moistened.
  • Shape dough to create a ball.
  • Turn out onto lightly floured surface; knead gently 6 times.
  • Pat into 9 inch circle on prepared cookie sheet.
  • Score dough into 8 wedges; don't separate.
  • Bake 18 to 20 min or possibly till light golden.
  • Break apart; serve hot with jelly.
  • Makes 8 scones.
