Ingredients
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. sugar
- pinch of salt
- 3/4 c. sour cream
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Method
- Melt butter or margarine in heavy pot over medium-low heat. Add brown sugar; heat to boiling.
- Add sugar, pinch of salt and sour cream.
- Cook over low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves and mixture reaches soft ball stage (236°).
- Cool at room temperature until lukewarm (110°).
- Do not stir.
- Beat until mixture holds its shape.
- Add vanilla and nuts.
