Ingredients

  • 6 cups thinly sliced peeled apples Safeway 1 lb For $0.99 thru 02/09
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. MINUTE Tapioca
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 6 Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. milk

Method

  • Mix apples, 2/3 cup sugar, tapioca, cinnamon, nutmeg and water in large saucepan.
  • Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to full boil.
  • Pour into 2-quart baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with raisins.
  • Dot with 2 Tbsp.
  • of the butter.
  • Cut remaining butter into flour, 2 Tbsp.
  • sugar, baking powder and salt until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Stir in milk until soft dough forms.
  • Drop by tablespoonfuls onto hot apple mixture.
  • Bake at 375F for 30 minutes or until topping is golden.
  • Serve warm.
